Guided tours

Mediation – as opposed to the traditional model of the guided tour – instigates debate and intellectual discussion around the artwork from the visiting group. The mediator sets out to slow down the visitor in order for questions to arise, to gather responses and be able to discuss varying opinions so that the groups own perceptions can evolve from the basis of collectively understanding the work.

Free open tours for individual visitors*

Every week we organise six open tours, which as individual visitor, you can join. Tours are led by an Art Mediator and will take place in Helmhaus, Löwenbräukunst and the Manifesta 11 Satellites. For the open tours, no reservation is required. Sign in from 11.00 at the Info Point at the main entrance of Helmhaus or Löwenbräukunst.

Pre-booked tours for groups

Our tours are available daily in German, English and French from 11.30 until 17.00 and Thursdays until 19.00. The average length of a guided tour is 90 minutes (max 16 people/guide). We give tours based on interests, background, and special needs, so please let us know if you have any requests. Groups are required to book at least 10 days in advance.
