Leigh Ledare set up a three-day immersive group situation, replicating the improvisational approach of a school of group psychology, Tavistock. He chose twenty-one participants on the basis of family, gender, race, class, shared origin or experience. Collectively, the participants and psychologists constitute a microcosm of Zurich society, just as the exhibition visitors could be said to represent another sample. In the Helmhaus, the sessions are played back in real time; issues taken up by group members serve as a springboard for collective self-reflection. In the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, Ledare presents the participants’ own written anticipations and assessments of the process.
